They don't make a GL1 anymore, as far as I know. From the research I've done, they made GL2 as a replacement for GL-1. Contrary to belief, you cannot always just replace one GL grade with a 'higher' grade. This is particularly true of many GL4 applications - I would *not* try to replace GL4 with GL5, especially in a modern manual transmission where they specify GL4. GL5 may have superior properties, but it is different. In the case of your tractor, I would recommend that you use GL2 or GL2-GL4. The GL2-GL4 is supposed to meet the specifications of all gear oils in the GL2 through GL4 classifications.
