Speaking of engine conversions for the IH H! Stick you an engine out of an 806 and have a usable tractor. Here is some info that mite interest you, IH made 3 bellhousing sizes that will interchange with each other. the H-460 is the same bellhousing bolt pattern, and same rear engine plate, and the same frame rail, bolt pattern. That means,, you can bolt a 221-301 IH 6 cyl engine right in the H bellhousing. Gas or Diesil u pick! Use the 460 frame rails, clutch, flywhell from the 460, use the clutch disk from a Super H, and the H pilot bearing, and it all slides together just like factory! now, heres the hard part,, you have to recut the flywheel, to use the H starter ring, its easy if you have a lathe. then you can use the stock H starter to start it! On the next size bellhousing,, you have the M-1456. Frame rails, and the engine plates are the same bolt pattern, so you can bolt a 407 into an M rear end, then you have the 400 series engine powered tractors,, which was like the 1066 and like size tractors which can be bolted into the M-1456 bellhousing. Pretty cool huh? Ive personally installed a 263 gas 6 in the H, and the 436 in an 856, and all IH parts were used,, no custom work except for the starter rings. Sure hope this might help you! ChadS
