I guess I am somewhat confused here, any dyno I have ever been around would kill an engine if you cranked it down enough. The proper procedure for using a dyno is to open the throttle on the tractor, and then start cranking the wheel on the dyno until you are reading 540 pto rpms. At that point you take a horsepower reading. The actual speed of the tractor engine is irrelevant. You only have a problem if the observed horsepower at 540 rpm is lower than expected. Does this help? Am I totally off base?
