460D Running, But Not Too Good

I put the reconditioned injectors back on this morning. Had one bad glow plug too. It has been replaced. Got diesel fuel at the injectors. The system seems bled out. It would not start though. We pulled it and it smoked and tried to fire, but the timing seemed off. I re-timed it. This time it ran when we pulled it, but not very good. Pulled it for quite awhile before it started.

Three of the injector seals (rubber rings) seem to be leaking. Tightened them down, but 2 are still leaking some. Are there supposed to be metal rings at the top next to the injector rubber seals. Seems like they would seal okay.

How sensitive is the timing of the pump? I thought if I got it close, it would probably run okay, but it seems like the timing is off and it has kind of a surge going. It doesn"t power up well. I think I have it pretty close to where it should be though. Did the TDC on #1 cyl and matched up the pump timing marks. I was able to drive it back to the utility pole where we can charge up the battery. Will try more later.

Any tips would be appreciated. We"re going to get this thing going one way or another.
