That is definitive. You are going to need to have the seals in the pump worked on. it could be literally cracked or broken. it should have engine oil only in the chamber, too the check port you mentioned. I would not try to run it any more until the pump was repaired. It might be clear what is wrong with it by taking it apart carefully on a bench, but shops might not work on it is it has been taken apart casually.
