I know, I know I am just a farmer trying to hold some old equipment together. But recently I needed a new Detachable link chain for my Brillion drill seeder. Probably the same size as used on the Van Brunt grain drills. Went to that fancy JD Dealer just South of us and learned from the parts man that that chain was so obsolete that maybe I should try to get one from the Amish hardware store in the country. After all the seeder is probably 20-25 years old (probably newer than my newest tractor that I farm with (4450). I just turned tail and went an extra 3 miles in another direction and the parts mans only question was, "How long do you need?" Sure is odd how a parts man can put such a bitter taste in some dealers. The service department has been looking for some shop work and called yesterday to see if I'd bring in the 4450 for some leaks that I had complained about. I just told them it was to old and I'd check with the horse and buggy amish that live nearby.
