I agree with Johnny that we do not need to keep kids away from machinery, we need to teach them how to be around machines. I grew up on a farm and have been operating and repairing all kinds of equipment on our farm sence I was hardly old enough to walk. I have never had a major accident because from a young age I was tought how to be around running equipment, what I can do and what I cannot do with out risk of injury. Putting a child on a post hole digger was the operators fault for not teaching the child that you cant do that, that is asking for disaster. I am not critizing because accidents do happen and it is tragic, but education is the answer here, not simply keeping kids away from the machines. These kids are the next generation of farmers, and we need them to be interested and involved -- Safely. Just my 2 cents worth.
