i'm looking at a hd7 that runs great.i no nothing about dozers at all.the owner said it had been setting two years and it will not steer right.it was working fine when it was parked.any suggestions?

hi there, i can help you i own 2 hd7s and had them apart many times still working them as well and have one for parts as well let me know if you need help, as of your cat you are looking at it could be 1 of 5 things, 1st out of adjustment 2 broken clutch arm ,3rd broken or worn or brake band and or out of udjustment,4th stripd clutch disk teeth 5th clutch pack lock rings fell out < new clutch disks are still availible

The steering clutch is stuck. If you were to run it that way for a while, the change in temperature, vibration, and power going through it would probably break it loose. If it doesn't, have to pick it apart and soak it with penetrating oil.

Backing up and turning with the one that works will produce the same effect as turning the other way going forward.

There aren't an awful lot of parts around for those anymore.
