D6 -B Steering clutch problem?

I recently bought an old D6-b which is a 44-A-17*** to dig some ponds and other work around the farm. When I got the old girl I put new sprocket segments, some rollers, and painted the old girl. The problem I have is the left steering clutch will not disengage sometimes. The guy I bought it from had replaced the hydraulic assist seals above the steering clutches and said that the clutches had some fluid on them.
I cleaned out the cavity really well, filled it up with diesel fuel, and moved I around for about 15 minutes. After draining them and letting them sit for a day they worked much better for about 10-15 hours, then they started to act up again.
Is there anyone out there that has an old trick for these dry clutches or should I just replace them? I am also looking for a manual for the old girl. Thanks in advance….

Try gas instead of diesel. Some will say this is dangerous, but it works. Had a TD18 IH, same problem, same cure. Love old Cats, but sometimes takes some unorthodox methods to keep em goin. Let me know how you make out. Good luck! DT

I am confused, i thought if you got oil on a clutch it would slip instead of not disengaging???

Have you checked your final drives lately? On our old 9Us the seals leak gear oil into the clutches, so we use some light grease in them.
