Wow , what a difference a real machine makes!I've been trying to clear and fill in my rocky back yard using farm tractors and a box blade. Well, the Allis Chalmers M we bought about a month ago got its first real workout today, and I'm hooked! We were able to move 50 yards of bony gravel fill in an afternoon, and even some nasty rocks the size of a small refigerator. This thing is a pushing fool! Of course there were a few first time bugs to work out, the worst of which was the fuel system. Every few minutes there was a light pink jelly like substance which would fill up the sediment bowl and stall the machine. We'd clean it out, and have another go. Also the fuel mixture seems to be way rich, and we fouled out a set of plugs( Champions) and replaced them with some AC's that were sitting around. When the dozer went downhill, some oil ran out of the front top of the motor onto the fan belt area. We also learned not to fil the gas tank too full as all the shaking made it leak out of the cap, which looks remarkably like a Model A Ford part.. I got some neat pictures of the beast rolling some rocks around, and when I figure out how to post them you'll see em. ( anyone have any experience putting "pictures on disc" on the web?) All in all a very satisfying day. Sure, it isn't a modern D6 with a 6 way blade and upholstery, but it's a keeper!( And it's PAID FOR!)

I know the feeling! Having never had anything larger than an 8N, I bought an older allis HD6 crawler/loader. Felt just like a kid on Christmas morning, driving it around clearing large trees and just being able to accomplish so much work in so little time. Don't ever sell it!

Truck: by the power vested in me by twenty one years of dirt moving with heavy equipment, raise your dozer arm to shoulder hieght, and your left arm to steering clutch level, with eyes straight ahead, fixed on that huge pile of dirt in front of the blade, solomly swear to keep clean tracks, a full fuel tank, and a smooth pass, so help me doze. Walk proudly Truck, you are now an official, Cat Skinner! Well I don't know about all that, but it certainly is a good feeling to be able to move a reasonably good load of product and put it where you want it without all that spinning and bucket bounce of a wheeled tractor. Each machine has its place. As you have probably read here somewhere, I own a TD91 IHC, I wouldn't trade for anything, though a 142 or a 182 would realy be a nice addition, these machines might have some age, but they are still willing to go to work, and capable! Just need a little more time and TLC. A small hint, don't try to level an area with an empty dozer, always do your leveling by pushing about a half, or better, load of dirt, it will take a while to get the hang of it, but it sure makes controling the machine a lot easyer, Have a gooder "C.S." Lotsa Luck, G.

Hi, Bill, you certainly can use the above bit of transcript on your site, as for pics, well....
I think if you look back at our correspondence, you will notice that Growzerbar and the fellow that sent you the 91 pics are the same, and by-the-way, you certainly do have a terrific site, I would highly recomend a visit there by all who are interested in track equipment and do-it-yourself projects, have a gooder, G.
