I am considering buying a Allis HD 6 with torque converter plus a parts machine included with it. The running machine has a serial # in low 14000's the parts machine has # in 22000's. Are the parts compatible ? Are the torque converters tough enough for clearing brush and small trees ? Any problems with that make of diesel engines or drive trains ?

On the torque converter side of the house. That will be plenty fine. Assumes the converter is in fine shape and there is not a lot of pressure loss.

As for parts interchangeablity, the first machine was built right around 1961 and the later machine is between 1969-70. I know that the U/C shared the same rails and a majority of the U/C parts. The HD6 came from the HD5. In 1963 they changed the engine from the HD344 to the 6000 which was same cylinder count and CC but was not direct injection. The first machine would be the HD6PS and the latter machine should be the HD6EP.

Your rated hp will be 80 with a flywheel of 72/75 for the later model.

Most of the parts will interchange but the best way to tell is to get the parts manual for the HD6 and check on the change up number.

Good luck
