Hi, I am working on an OC3/HG42 crawler. There appears to be two styles of idler wheels. One has two ribs in the center and rides on the inside of track rail. The other style cups the rail. What is the difference between idlers? Are they interchangeable? Is one style better than the other? Will one style work better with a loader?
I am new to crawlers and would appreciate advice.
Thanks, Dave

Cletrac HG's and Oliver HG's had the inside rib, Oliver OC-3's had the flange on the outside. I've seen 'em mixed and matched. If you're restoring stick, with the original style, if for work use what ya got. The later "outside" flange is better design for the long haul and new is better than worn out.
