Hi, I am new to crawlers, but not old tractors. What are the wear limits on Cletrac HG42 tracks? Some of my pins and bushings have 3/16"+ play.It appears bushings were turned and are round without any holes.Does running a machine with this kind of play cause extra wear on the machine? Do I run the risk of throwing a track? Is it pin and bushing time? I would appreciate any input.
Thanks,Dave

You're right! As the track stretches the rest of the undercarriage shares in the wear and tear.

Now if your only using it to drive around once in a while, could last a long time without a pin and bushing job...

On the other hand if you want to use it for anything (without throwing a track)you may need more than just new pins and bushings.

I suspect that your sprockets are getting pointy, or worse...round! New P & B's will tighten up your track but unless the rails, rollers, and idlers are built up and the sprockets are replaced the new P&B's will be chewed up in no time at all.

You can call Landis @717 738 2573 for the exact wear (He sells new pins and bushings) If the track is not rubbing on the top crawler arm they will work on a show crawler, they are to be adjusted to 1"in of slack with a board across the top of the track. The track tightners can be very hard to adjust on an old crawler. Good Luck Spark
