what kind of problems did the TD 24 have with the
transmission I have heard these tractors had a lot
or problems.

RICH I JUST RESENTLY PURCHASED A TD 24 AND I AM TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE WITH SOME INFO ABOUT THE OLD BEAST IF YOU DONT MIND.

well i dont know of any problems they had with
tranys. they had a update to the quill shafts
that run the bull gear, and all that was, is
a change in the number of splines.
i guess if you are talking about a torque converter type tranny they were a real gem, lots
of failures because of heat, contaminants,
and they just were not built heavy enough.
the only other problem with them is the cooling system the water pumps sucked they would not cycle
the water good enough so you would break heads
quite regularly. the best thing about a 24 is
the steering, its a hydralic two levers one for
each track hi, low, and stop. no steering clutchs
and brakes i can doze around a corner without
loosing power to one track.
any way my father purchased his first one in 1949
and his last one (used) in about 1975 and out of
the five three still run, and one i use today
so my opinion is they were and still are a good machine.(if you have parts)
