I have a 440ic (same almost)& it is a blast. Parts are still available thru JD Dealers. My favorite dealer is Pettit Machinery,800-657-5063;they don't mind looking up parts.I have the loader ver. my son likes to help drive it. the only problem was the water pump housing was broke, but a machineshop fixed it. I am constantly asked if'n I would sell her. I pd 5000.00 and tracks were new. In TX,OK,AR,&TN there are track shops that can rebuild 'em . THE TRACKS new @cat for my d-2 were 2800.00& now there is a rubber track replacement.

I sold a 420C, which was the predecessor to the 430C, and the undercarriage on it was completely gone. It brought $2,500.00, and I feel that a 430 is much more desirable than a 420. As Rodger said, if you don't get it bought, someone else will.

How will you feel when you go back to get it and you learn its been sold to someone else? If you'll feel like I think you will, you better go buy it. I've seen these bring over $4000 and no be of the type condition that you'd waste your time describing. Yours sounds worth it to me.

Need a little more info Bob. Can you post a picture of it showing the undercarriage? I know a couple of experts that frequent this site that could give you a good eyeballing estimate.

Any small dozer that runs should fetch anywhere from $3000 to $7500 depending on condition.

The most expensive part on these machines to watch for is the undercarriage. And believe me, a lot of these machines become available for sale when the cost to repair the undercarriage exceeds the value of the machine.

Things to look at would be how much slop is in the track, are the idlers adjusted all the way to the end of adjustment, sprocket teeth sharp or round, cracks in the bushings, weeping rollers, all of these are signs that you will soon part with big bucks....

If you think you will use this machine it might still be a good deal as long as you realize that you may end up putting in another 3 to 4 grand to keep it running. Just don't count on selling it to get your money back.
