A local construction company has a Bantam C451
track hoe for sale,it looks alittle rough but is
suppose to be in good mechanical shape. I was wanting to know if they had any common
problems to look out for or anything else & maybe
a sugguested price for a used machine.

You should be able to find an old CAT 215 in fair shape for under $18,000, and you will be much better off. I just traded one with my Cat dealer last year and got $15,000 for it. It may be hard to find parts for a Bantam. I would stick with CAT or Komatsu when it comes to excavators.

I used to have one:
The travel is slow, the swing is not hdy., but like a dragline with bands, brakes and gears, the travel is also not Hdy., but uses bands, brakes, gears and chains. It would work a good man real hard in a 8 hour day.

Im wanting to clean out a small pond & maybe
build another, they want 12000 for this one.I want
be using it for hire just to clean up 15 acres of
small to medium size trees. I need either a loader, dozer or hoe.My thinking
is the trackhoe would do all the things im wanting
to do.What do you think?
