I have a Case 310G diesel. It's a tracked front loader. To replace the brake drums you must remove the whole differential/transmission/final drives as a unit. If you really want to be able to get to everything easily remove the seat/fuel tank/battery box unit also. This involves removing the entire rearend of the tractor. If you don't take the fuel tank off then you must remove the stearing leavers first. Bust the tracks unbolt the whole final drive/transmission/differntial assembly from the rest of the tractor. (I think there are about twelve bolts.) You'll have to support the differential with blocks or a floor jack. (Becareful this is heavy stuff.) Roll the whole assembly out from under the machine on the sprockets. Be sure to remove the differential cover plate and using two short (4" long) two by four blocks under the brake drums, support the differential gear and brake cluster. Then detach the axle housings and pull them off the differential, this will allow you to remove the differential and get at the brake drums.

The axles are about ten inches long and are not keyed to the differential or the final drive.

If the above seems to apply to your tractor and you have any questions. E-mail me. Or post here.

Happy dozin,

Jack
