I'm needing a flatbed tandem dual gooseneck trailer for occasional, general farm use with a 1 ton dually. I'm currently thinking of a 25' overall length including a 5' dovetail and 12K lb. axles.

I would like to also use this trailer on a converter dolly behind a 10 wheel dump truck to occasionally move an 18K lb. backhoe or a 26K lb. crawler. The crawler is currently only moved a couple of times a year so hiring a low-boy is a feasible option.

After pricing axles, steel, etc., it seems I can purchase a trailer cheaper than I can build one.

What are your experiences and recommendations on manufacturers, axle ratings, frame I-beam weights, and other options?

I had Pro-Trak in Texas build a 23+5 dual tandem gooseneck. The price included delivery to Va. I loaded up on all the extras (3rd ramp, stabilizer feet on ramps, dual jacks, 16" centers on crossmembers, etc).

A very solid and heavy (6500# empty) trailer that I sold to buy a rollback.

Hello- I agree with your conclusion on the price. I have built 3-4 trailers and it is lower cost to just buy one that fits the bill. There are lots of trailer builders thru the southeasst- Tex- Oklahoma- Arkansas. Good luck
