I have a HD-B with a GM engine. After running the for about eight hours, oil is in the radiator. Can anyone tell me where the problem is and is this a common problem. Are there parts available for the repair, if so where?

This machine has a manual transmission with 4 foward gears and 2 reverse. Hi reverse seems to "bind" and cause the engine to stall as you engage the cluch. Additionally, 1st gear in forward started "jumping out of gear" and now is even very difficult to get into gear. Can this transmission be repaired or should I seek a used transmission? Thanks.

Oil can be either from the oil cooler or could be from a blown head gasket. Their head gaskets are funny affairs, Just a bunch of o ringes ect.

At for the tranny. Do not run it any further or try to use it. You have a gear out or a bearing out. Any further use and you will take gears out all over the place.

To determine if you want to rebuild or find a TO or RTO that will depend upon the damage. If it is only a couple of gears etc get the parts.

The trany is easy to pull, you just need a lift and some time. Contact me if you need gears, I have a local source that has about 7 hd5 tranys, 3 are rto single reverse and two are from the loader with the dual reverse. Those are getting harder to find and I have seen them priced for non garuntee around 1200-1500.

Bill, I'm having problems with my HD5 rehab project. It is the one on your guest pages with the movies. The right stearing clutch is stuck. I tried to remove the clutch but I can't even get the $#%$&@$%&$@#@*(* break band out. Any suggestions? Also you mentioned above you know where to find parts. If I ever do ger this thing out, where can I get clutch parts. I also have oil in the radiator, where can I find a new Oil cooler?

Check the oil cooler. You most likley have some bearings out in the tranny. jumping out of gear could also be wore gears. Any tranny you find most likley will be just as wore. You can get bearings and seals from a bearing supplyer the gears you will have to hunt used or have them made
