I'm completely rebuilding an HD-7 dozer including $1700 in new bearings and seals. The tracks, rollers, idlers and sprockets are in new condition. The sheet metal has been sand blasted and painted. Before I start using this machine, I want to know if it has more value as a collector dozer than a working dozer. What's a dozer like this worth?

which HD7 do you have. There were two HD7 series produced. One with a Detroit Engine and the other with an Allis Chalmers engine.

If you have the later, it is quite an old machine and to have found that good of parts is quite remarkable. Value would be tought to gauge. I would presume that the paint is to original factory color (Persian Pink) with decals ect.

If it is that good--one with detroit engine, my guestamate would be between $7500-$10000. This value is based on the value if I were to cut it up and sell off the parts since they are hard to find and I know of a number of guy presently trying to restore them.

Check out www.ibdozing.com, lot of AC guys are there and can give you ideas on the machine.

www.machinerytrader.com might have some info as to recent sales but that does not provide information as to condition ect.

Thank's for the info. It's a 1947 ser# 13731 and a HD7W (wide guage)with a 3-71 Detroit. I painted it AC orange that appeared to be the original color. What's the story on this Persian Pink?

Most of the guys who used to work AC in our area called it Persian Pink. I thing that was as the paint oxidized it got kind of a pinkish color.

Submit your pictures to www.ibdozing.com. They are a very active site for AC and IH equipment. You can post your pictures in their message boards too.
