I put a 650 watt block heater in, but when it's down to 0º, it's not too effective, There's another plug I could put another heater in and I might have to do that, but I'd like to get the oil warmed up so it spins faster when trying to start.
I put a redi heater blowing on the skid pan under the engine, but that's not too effective either.
Any suggestions beside waiting for spring? Thanks

For the antifreeze you could put in a 1500 watt circulating heater. To heat the oil there are flexible pad heaters, available in different wattages, that glue to the bottom of oil pans. Zero Start is one brand that comes to mind. A battery heater would help, too. We used these in Alaska on everything from cars to dozers. We even put heaters on automatic transmissions. As long as the heaters were working the engines spun over like summer. Usually no ether required, either.

I have found that changing to a synthetic-blend oil allows the engine to spin over faster when cold, and start easier. In the Canadian north, I have used Esso, XD-3, 0-40 with excellent results.
