On starting the machine all is ok but slowly the engine loads up, smokes and breathes badly...after 1 or 2 minutes it eventually stalls.(I originally swapped motors with no effect). If I remove the trans oil suction filter(and hence no trans pressure, and no oil to converter) all is ok. tailshaft still turns ok and pressures seem ok. anyone else had similar probs?? and what was the diagnosis/repair req'd

Hello. You could check all the filters on the oil circuit. If the suction filter has dust, it can cause such problem.
Good luck
Lilian

Have you put pressure gauges on power shift assembly. There should be three or more small pipe caps there. You can plug in an oil gauge to see how the pressure is running.

Sounds like you are loading up. A TC as more torque is applied forces more pressure on the system and the need gets high it puts ever more pressure until in this case you you just stall the engine. Since it is happening that fast, I would suspect a plugged line or something not in the correct location. In the manual there is a circuit. The curcuit will allow oil to flow throught the housing till you need it and then apply it from the TC to the transmission pack and then drive it forward. Sounds like a relief valve is stuck. Will have to go home and look at the TD9 version of the TC.

Hope that help. Visit www.ibdozing.com. Got a lot of IH guys there
