Does anyone have information as to what the value of a Caterpillar R2 Bulldozer is. I having one and was just wondering about getting some information regarding this bulldozer. I believe it is around 1934 and heard that there was only 83 produced, is this correct????

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Originally the R2 was a modified twenty-two made for the US Government (the 5E models). Only 83 of these modified twenty-twos were made. I own 5E3509, and it is in unrestored operating condition. I am thinking about e-mailing cat to see what they can tell me. The later R2s, (the J prefix ones) were made with a D2 body. I haven't seen one, but I believe the engine is different. I hear the J prefix R2's were made in higher numbers.

R2 Production: (starting serial numbers)
5E3501 40" & 50" gauge 1934 - 1937 4J1 40" 1938 - 1942 6J1 50" 1938 - 1942

I don't have the total numbers but if you go to the Antique Caterpillar board, they will!

The R2 is the Gas version of the D2 and my book agrees with yours only 83 made from 1934 to 37. I have know idea how much it is worth but in good running condition I am sure it would bring a good dollar at auction.
