Jerry: got several followups about the problem including using volt meter to check gen output; ammeter is one of four gauges on panel and a gosh awful problem to get it out; however, volt meter reading on the gen was only 2V; batt is an 8 V job; checked the voltage regulator, cleaned all terminals and those on the gen. Conclude the gen is going to have to be rebuilt. ammeter needle is free, swings back and forth when instrment cluster is shaken. One dern thing after another; PC
