I just purchased a 1959 H50D payloader with the International 282M (945) engine. It runs and operates, but the engine requires starting fluid to get started when cold (low compression?). Other than hydraulic leaks and a broken brake line, the engine is my main concern. Does anyone have information on good parts suppliers for the engine, transmissions, and pumps? Does anyone have a copy of a parts, service or owners manual? I would gladly pay a deposit to borrow it long enough to copy, as I doubt any are still available from suppliers.

Did you check continuity on resister? Reason being you are suppose to have a full 12 volts ONLY while cranking. This voltage comes from starter solenoid as 12 volts. Then when you release ingnition switch voltage is switched from 12 down to 9 volts after going through the resister.Check it out Dave

engine was used in IH tractors and combines. Go to your CaseIH dealer and ask for engine parts for a 560 or 660 diesel farm tractor, they are the same..... .

In my search for engine parts from International tractor part suppliers, I found that there are 4 types of kits based on main bearing size and also engine serial numbers before or after 77177. The only serial number on my engine is UD 282M 945, which these suppliers dont know about. The year of the loader is 1959, so could the 945 be the serial number? If so, I will just need to know if it has 3.75 or 4" main bearings when I tear it down.

Wh makes these International engine kits? Does tisco, who makes the cheap small tractor kits make these as well? I believe that the supplier I talked to said his kit was made by Federal Mogul.
