I have a BD154 4 cylinder diesel in a 1960ish International 500 dozier that I bought for a hobby. Is there any special specifications on the grade of diesel fuel to use? What should the voltage on the electrical system be? What kind of battery amperage am I going to need to crank it over? Where can I find an in line glow plug resistor for this jewel? What type of oil would you run sinse it has not ran in many moons?

Ed,

I have a 500C, uses standard grade diesel (#2), 30wt oil (I use rotello), uses a standard heavyduty car battery, 800-900CCA 12 volts. Try the Case/IH dealer for the fuse. Good Luck!

I have a 500 series E. I am having trouble with the steering. It starts easy and is in good shape except for the steering. I an unfamiliar with the dry clutch concept. Any suggestions????

I have a '73 500c that I have done a lot of work to..... .still needs more though. I would start by pulling off the oil pan before you even run it and clean the sludge out of it. You can also, at the same time, pull a couple bearing caps off the con rods to see where you're at for wear. I run 15-40 oil in the engine and Hytran in the hydraulics and transmission.
