I have a DD80L and think it is a great machine. I bought it in preference a Komatsu D37. I checked out several dozers before buying this one and a cohort of mine bought one of the D37s I checked out...I like this machine much better...it is much more comfortable to run. I bought the service and parts manuals from the Daewoo dealer who sold it originally in Alma, Arkansas.

Lots of power, smooth, good hydraulics. I can"t push as much but can run circles around my neighbor and his D5C...If I can"t knock it over it probably needs to stay anyway. We were working in a muddy creek last month and all he could do in the rocks and muck was make a mess. This machine could push a load over the rocks and washouts. The engine is the same as in some of the Daewoo excavators, is slow speed, no turbo and just idles along. I operate it at about 1500 rpm instead of full speed at 1800. Full joystick would be nice but I finally got used to the pedals after 5 or 6 hours and don"t think a thing about them now. The electic over hydraulic controls are interesting but they are on lots of stuff now. I found I can get all the parts from the OEM supplier to Daewoo. The hydraulic motors and pump are Sundstrand as well as the controls. The one fly in the ointment I don"t know about for sure is the microprocessor...you will find these in lots of new equipment that will someday be old equipment. My son is an biomedical, electrical, electronics engineer and can be higly motivated to keep things working so I trust he and I will figure something out if the time ever comes.

Daewoo and Hyuandi got caught out after 9-11 and the downturn. They were only getting about 2% of market share in their segment so called it quits. Daewoo sold the manufacture rights to New Holland who supposedly built the DD80 until they could get their own design underway...I have not been able to verify this. I am also told that Berco make track group parts but again, I have not verified this. My machine only has 1400 hours so the tracks some life left if I keep out of the rocks.
