Mike, as the other guys have said this is no big surprise. I'm not aiming this at you, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone turn off a tractor and leave the bucket raised on it. The same with dozers..... so many times the operator will just jump off and go to lunch leaving the blade fully raised. Why? Leaving a hydraulic implement raised for any period of time is not a good thing. It puts a lot of pressure on the parts of the hydraulic system that just absolutely does not need to be there. Imagine how much stress you're putting on the cylinders, hoses, the pump, the mounts, and the bearings that you don't need to. The same goes for plows. How many times have ya'll seen someone store a plow or drill in the raised positioned and walk off and leave it? I'm sorry, I don't mean to rant. But, this is one of my very few pet peeves that I see simply no reason for. Rule of thumb-If it can sit on the ground, that's where it should be..... ...

have a couple of thick 5/8 or 3/4 inch steel tabs welded on so you can fix it in upright position, but make sure to leave a little slack abve to pinning location so it wont get jammed up to tight and hold lock pin in holes and be near impossible to get out. you might want to store machine with rods inside of hyd cylinders to avoid weather exposure and eventual rust. bh bon chance

From a safety issue, the bucket should be on the ground!!!!! !!!! As you have said you have no boom lock, so the place for it is the ground. As far as wether it should drift or not, the answer is yes, ALL machines have a drift spec, no machine is sealed 100%. Usually the smaller the machines will use the spool to hold the crcuit and is designed to allow drift.

Hey Mike, not necessarily normal but also not uncommon, thats alot of weight for a cylinder to hold up any length of time without the machine running, I'd get my cylinder packed iff'in you dont want to chain it up every time, and even then it may not stay up any longer 2 hrs is a good while for it to stay up before it starts drifting.
