Will a hyd. pump off of an MC crawler fit and work properly on a 420c? Does it have the same specs as the 420 pump would have?

Thanks for the answers on the hyd. pump. This is really a neat forum.

Art,
It might fit and work, but the pumps are different, the MC uses an AM1808T pump, and 420's use the AM2947T pump. You will find that the suction line fitting on an MC pump is different, and the 420 pump fitting will not work. I think the suction lines may be different diameter as well.
If you decide to do it, check your pressure when done because I believe that the MC pump is somewhat lower volume, and re-shim for 900-950 PSI.

Hi Art,
In response to your question, a resounding yes.

However before you go too far and replace it with another, tear it down. I spent some time on mine and found it to be worth the bother. Deere still sells a repair kit with seals and bearings. However a jobber may be the way to go for the bearings. I found that the side plates on my pump to be worn so I milled and lapped each side plate. Removing the bearings will be a job because 3 of them are in blind holes. This means an expander must be used to remove them. I also had to turn a sleeve for one of the gears and I also lapped the faces of each gear. Tolerance was brought back to .001" of an inch by lapping the body of the pump.

The result is a hydralic system that puts out 600psi of pressure and operates quickly.

I do have some pictures of the pump torn appart and repaired. If you are interested let me know and I will email them to you.

TonyK.
