My cousin and I got an old crawler to fix up, we were told it was an OC-3 but when I sanded the paint off the serial number it had HG-42 on it. My understanding is that this is older than an OC, I am not sure if that is right. Can someone tell me what year and anything else about this crawler by serial number, HG-42 53GA838? Also what is the best way to find out what kind of engine is in this little crawler? Thanks for your help on our first project.

You have a 1950 model and the engine is a Hercules IXB-3 engine. The production of the HG ended in 1951 at S/N 59GA858; tractor then became OC-3.

Just look over to the left and click on Serial Numbers, then click on Cletrac and scroll down to HG. Engine is a Hercules if its the original one

you have a Hercules engine in it; go to serial no
menu LH side of this board; click in the no and you may find year of manufacture. Lots of info available on OCs of various models. Good luck. PC
