I have a 1983 D3B with foot pedal steering. I have rebuilt the clutches and reinstalled and I am making the final adjustments. Does the center pedal disengage the clutches also or does it just apply the brakes?

I just bought a 1986 D3B. How much of a job was it to change the clutches and how expensive was it? Where did you end up getting manuals from?
Thanks in advance for the info.
Steve

I own a machine shop and I did not know what I was doing, but I had access to all the right equipment to pull the clutches. Took 1 day to pull clutches (8 hours), 1 day to clean and rebuild, and 1 day to put back in. Not very hard work, but just a lot of time. You will need manuals. They are very helpful. Should be able to get them at any Cat representative in the area (check the cat website). Complete set of manuals will run about 300.00. Parts for rebuilding run about 100.00 for bearings and 100.00 for clutch plates each.

Campro,I told you I would say more about adj.
Just remembered, Tighten up the brake adj as tight as you can, push the lever forward as far as you can, make the rod as short as you can and still slip the pin in. Check that the peddals (right&left) are tight. Then back off the adj to get the right peddal height. This will make all of the peddal travel (band/drum) clearance and not linkage play. Then adj. 3/8 support bolts if they will move. Don't drill holes in bottom plugs, you want to keep as much out of the clutches as possible.
