Hello all...I just recently overhauled the engine on my JD 1010 crawler diesel engine. Ran the motor about a total of a half hour before I realized the pressure gauge showed zero. I believe I'm circulating oil because the motor hasn't slowed or stopped. I pulled the oil filter off the unit and it is saturated with oil. Any idea's where the problem might be? Bad gauge? Any help will be appreciated. Roger

I'm not sure if the gauge worked before, but I applied 35Lbs of air pressure to it and the needle deflects without hesitation. I started the motor with the gauge removed from the engine. I had oil come from the port, however, it was not with any force. It did come out full hole, only it ran down the engine instead of squirting like I expected to see.

did you use the old oil pump or a new one. If using the old pump what was the gap between the pump housing and the gear. if the gap exceeds the spec. then you will get little or no oil pressure.

Keith - I spoke with my brother, who used the crawler all last summer, and he said he had good oil pressure, that the gauge worked fine. It was always between 35 and 50 LBS. I did not purchase a new oil pump - I'm using the old one. Is it possible that the oil pump is air bound a bit making it ineffective?

Thanks for the help everone. I really appreciate it!

Roger
