On the undercarriage there is a giant spring that I think gets compressed when a rock goes between the sprocket and the track? If this spring does not compress because of debri in the spring coils, will this bend the yoke assembly. Also, this machine has no covers on the undercarriage - would any of them be useful to replace to keep rocks from going into the sprocket?

That is what bent the yoke rod Campro. That spring is called the recoil spring, clean it out so it can work, other side is likely full of dirt too. Guards would be nice, try used parts people first, but small stones will still get in, not serious though.
