Is there a reason that crawler loaders have shorter, more dense grouser pad than dozers. Some call them "street pads". We use our loader with a 4in1 bucket for digging and tree removal and dozer track pads would seem to help a great deal. Can dozer grousers be installed on loader dozers without any problems?

The full grousers would cause havoc on the Loader mounts and frame. With the Case units, the final dives were the same. I used to laugh at the Case crawler/loaders with street pads, 4n1, and ripper in back, but after checking one out one time I was amazed with the power of the unit. The biggest trick is to put the load on gradually instead of all at once.

Fish, The only thing you have to worry about is over stressing the final drives on your crawler, if you install full grousers, because of the additional traction. I have street pads on my HD4, but needed additional traction for the same reasons you have. It is much cheaper to weld grouser bar to your street pads. go to this link for grouser bar and install instructions:www.csonline.net/4ncorp

Thanks for your reply Ralph. The final drives was the only thing I could come up with as well. I assumed that the final drives of the loader and dozer of the same make and model machine would be the same. Perhaps the stresses of the loader would be greater than that of the dozer. I would not have thought so, but again there must have been a reason for each machine having diffrent pads. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

2 years ago I put new track chains on my T-9 crawler with a Hough loader. The old tracks had a notch where the shoes set in. Instead of grinding all of the notches of I bought a set of 3 bar shoes that were still called street shoes. My old shoes were flat and when digging a hole I would sometimes have trouble backing up out of it.The new shoes cost me $10 each. The traction is much better with the 3 bar shoes.
