I have a problem with my IH 500. It has a wet clutch. When the tractor is cold it moves fine, after it warms up it seems as though the clutch is slipping. The fluid level is full, but the fluid has what seems to be air bubbles throughout. It's like sucking air. Where would be the most likely place to start looking? Has anyone encountered this before? Also what type of fluids synthetic or weight do you recommend? does anyone offer a trouble shooting book on this paticular piece? Thank you Bobby Anderson.

Sound as though the filter and screen is plugged or if the machine was sitting for a long time you might have a lot of condensation in the tranny. you should replace fluid and filters and clean screen.

how many filters are on this? I have no idea where the screen is located. i changed the fluid with JD hy-guard, one filter under my left foot and another that runs inline from pickup to the pump drivin off the front of the crank went great for about 15min then nothing. bobby

Hey Bobby I would start looking on the line that supplies oil from transmission to the charge pump make sure all fittings are tight, hose clamps, etc. As far as oil I would choose a transmission-hydraulic fluid, Case Perma-Tran, JD HY-Guard. both are very good fluid, but rather than spend upwards of $30 a bucket on these I would probably find something that matched their specs. Also something else to think about a worn charge pump could also cause your problem it will work ok till the fluid gets warm then as the fluid thins out it wont pump it.

is the charge pump drivin off the front of the motor? Is there another pump also? I changed all the fluids with JD Hy-Guard, the thing went like gangbusters for about 15 min, now its back to it's old self. also the new fluid is milky again.
