I have a 78 case 1150 crawler/loader and the fluid speced for the transmission is CASE TCH fluid. Is there a compatible non case fluid i can use instead, such as some of the "tractor fluid" i have seen, or regular hydraulic fluid. If i can use the hydraulic fluid, should it be the "32" or the "64". Also, does anyone know of aftermarket source for filters, such as the fuel, oil, transmission filters, etc?

john,

contrary to all the BS , universal tractor fluid will work fine. i have 2 - 1000 series case tractors, a loader and a dozer , both have had utf for more than 30 years with no problems.
don't use the aw hyd oil for trans , the hyd sys is no different than any other hyd sys , aw works fine there. 1000 trans is identical to your 1150 except for the final drive seals.i just disassembled the dozer trans after 30 years running to put o rings on the clutch pistons , replaced nobearings and no clutches , looked like new inside.have a pict of inside of trans if you would like to see

Marlowe is right!! TCH has a spl. additive in it, and you pay in parts if you don't use it. I'm told the clutch packs in a Case have to have this additive! "If" you insist in being cheap, my manual says Dextron 3 tans. fluid can be used in an emergency!! My crawler mechanic says useing it WILL shorten the life of the clutch packs. Robert

HI John,

I use Fleetguard filters on everything I can.

On the 1150C and 580K I use the Case HY-tran, [hydraulics,trans.]. The moisture suspending and other additives in this fluid vs. the savings using the other fluids pencil out for me on down time & bottom line.
