Any experience with Massey crawlers?

I've got an old Massey Ferguson 2244 with a drott bucket.

Does anyone on this board have any experience running a crawler like this? How does it perform, and what are its limitations?

Parts seem to be available for this machine thru Minnpar, and the undercarriage is in great shape, but I'll have to rebuild the D3-152 Perkins pretty soon.

Any info, comments or contacts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joey in Dallas, TX

I have this same dozer with a 6-way and a rear ripper. I have small grousers on it so it is a good landscape dozer but isn't heavy enough to do serious pushing. I have been happy with it. I bought it with power only on one track and thought I would have to replace a steering clutch. Turned out the brake was hung up and wouldn't let the linkage return to engage the clutch. The local Massey dealer has been able to get me a few parts I needed because I think they are common to the tractors. I need a tach and cable so maybe I will try the place the other post suggested. The guy I bought the dozer from had done a rebuild but he had bought the kit from one the big have everything outfits. I do have a shop manual so if you get stuck I could look something up or get you a photocopy of a page or 2.
