Cat road grader

i have been given a cat road grader. i have been told it is from the 30s or 40s.how would i identify the model and year. it has all mechanicle controls for the blade, no hydraulics.it has 2 driving axles in the back with 10X24 tires.the engine is a 4 cylinder gas motor, crank start, it is seized up right now. also any idea what this machine might weigh.thanks for any info you can give me on this machine.

There should be a SN plate on it. # 9, 10, or 11, something like that. Newer than 1938, probably a R4 engine. Older could be several depends on size. Check out www.acmoc.org good luck

I dont know the graders too well, but someone mentioned one recently that had a Cat 28 engine in it.

If the grader has the same engine as the 28 Cat. The unit should be as #10 Auto Partol. They made them in the years 1933 thru 1934 with the Chassis S/N prefix as 7E, and the engine S/N prefix was 3F. Years for the #10 Auto Partol 1934 thru 1936 had a Chassis S/N prefix as 9F, the engine S/N was 3F, same as the first one's. This engine was a 40 Horsepower with a Cyl-Bore and Stroke of 4-4 3/16" and 5 1/2. The Chassis S/N should be on the left side of frame, a crossed from the left front wheel. Hope this helps.
