I have a chance to purchase a TD 4. I don't know the serial number but the dozer starts and runs good. But only the left track turns. It has been sitting outdoors for some time and needs some cosmetics and undercarriage work. What is this machine worth? Is it large enough to do any substantial work? About how much would it weigh? What years did International build this tractor? Sorry about asking so many questions, but I'm a newbie on this machine.

Is my face red? I must be getting senile, my memory is deserting me. I was sure that when we first looked at the dozer the decal said TD 4. Just had a second look today and sure enough it is a TD 6. The serial number is DBK 31561. Anyone have any info about this machine? Were these tractors built to handle a blade? What I mean is did the factory install the blade. This one looks home made at certain points. Sorry for the mix-up.

If it is a gas starter there was no TD4 built. I can think of two possibilities. TD 14 (styled sheetmetal) or TD 40 (unstyled). Check the decal again. A 14 would be about the same size a Cat D6 a 40 a little smaller. I am talking "fit on your truck" size not horsepower.

I need all the help that I can get to restore to a daily working order a 1940? International bull grader. The tag as best I can tell says, Modle # TDR7733T4 serial # 31708. This has a 12ft wide 4ft tall blade, 38,000 lb crawler.

Is it a t4(gas) or a td5(diesel)? both tractors are the same except for the engine. t4s are 27hp, the t5-33hp td5-35hp i think. weight is 5000lbs bare. They were built in Canada as a ag tractor and preceded the ih500 crawler. if you get it email me for a news letter on these t4s,5s&td5s I'm about ready to send out to registry members like you who are interested in these little ones. you won't move mountians with 'em.

Do you have a photo of your tractor, If so I would be interested in seeing IT. I have reciently aquired a T4 my self. However I"m a little confused. The serial # is 31708 modle #TDR7733T4 ( SO I am told) but every time I see a t4 I see a small tractor. My tractor is a 38,000 lb crawler with a 12ft wide 4ft tall blade. It has a winch on the rear that is the size of a v-8 engine.

Mike,
The dozer has a decal that says it is a TD 4. It is dual fuel. It starts on gas and then you switch over to diesel. I should probably check the serial number before I make any more inquiries. Where can one find parts and manuals for this machine?

do you mean kerosene or destilate fuel????
sounds wery strange with gasoline/diesel
cos if you put gasoline into an diesel engine
it is to fast burning fuel for the engine
and an gas engine uses sparkpluggs and carburator
and on a diesel you have an injection pump and
injectors????? ???
if you put diesel in a gas engine it works
but it will run awfully bad.

The engine on this tractor has 4 sparkplugs and an injector pump feeding 4 injectors. I don't know how it works, but it does. I've been told that only the TD 5 has this feature, but I'm sure the tractor that I looked at had a TD 4 decal. I'm going to visit it again this week and try to get the serial number and some pictures. If I can, I'll post the pictures.

if it has a injection pump and injectors its a diesel, the gas part of the engine is for starting ONLY..its a unique feature that IH only used, it starts up on gas after warmeing up for a few minutes you push the lever and it switches it over to diesel and kills the gas ignition and closes off the intake to the gas side.. before you purchase the crawler i would advise that you hear it run on DIESEL>. all the start on gas engines were prone to cracking heads.. the reason they cracked was whoever run the machines all day would shut them right down, this is a NO NO,, they should set and idle for atleast 20 min to cool the head down then its safe to shut them off..if the eng dont run properly then you can assume that the engine will need extensave (expensive) work. i am currentley rebuilding a TD-6 eng that has a bad head..
