Problem w/one track

Looking for some help for the following problem:
I have a straight 350 crawler - plenty of torque on both tracks pushing - when I pull left track lever in forward gear it works ok. When I pull left track lever in reverse, it does not brake and I get a noise that sounds like the sprocket is jumping links on the track (which it is not).
I have adjusted the cluthces/brakes as per the manual but still have the problem. Any suggestions on where to look next to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ed

Does foot brake hold both tracks? If not problem is in the brake mechanism, if it does hold properly the problem is in clutch assembly, may be a seal, but probably clutch not releasing drum causing the chatter on braking with hand lever. I am in need of both rails for a JD350C. at a mother-in-law price with a minister's discount, in or near Arkansas.
