Overall I am happy with the new to me machine, trying to decide what I need to fix now and what can wait. With the trans in gear and clutch disengaged the machine creeps, after running the machine for a bit it stops doing it. This makes shifting difficult, this is the model with fwd/rev shuttle. Is this normal or a sign of problems, I am going to change fluinds soon.

Winston, I think you should look at the clutch brake. It should stop the clutch when you push forward on the clutch lever in the disengaged position to shift gears.

sorry, I forgot to mention that I adjusted the clutch/and brake, before doing this I had to start it up in gear. With clutch disengaged the machine moves to shift i got to stop the machine, idle engine down, put on the clutch brake, then shift. after running for a bit every thing works the way it should don't even need to use clutch brake, changing fwd to rev. It has a wet clutch I was thinking it might have somthing to do with the oil causing drag in the plates.

That said Winston, I think you are on the right track, plus some steady work and it'll be fine.

Ralph, this machine wash purchased in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Bought it from the orignal owner, it sat in a feild for several years the old guy would put batteries in it and start er up now and then. This machine has the quarry bucket on it the multipurpouse bucket would be a nice add on. I got the operators, and parts manual with the machine it shows the hook up for the multipurpose bucket. would that be any help to you? winston

Ralph I assume you mean a clamp bucket. Sides and bottom swing up and can pinch logs and things. The best way is to add another spool that way the circuit is protected by line(port) relief valves. It can be done on the cheap with a rotary valve to divert the tilt flow but I wouldn't advise it.
