What model Allis Chalmers tractors do you need info on? HD 5, HD 6 , HD 9, HD 11? Let me know, and I'll try to help you out. Phil

Good Mornin'. Here goes. HD6A's up to S/N 5100 had 44' track guage and 33 link tracks. HD 6A's S/N 5101 and up had 44" track guage with 34 link tracks. In the early 1960's HD 6A's were dropped from AC product line. The 6A model were tractors made for agricultural work, hence the narrow width. Many had turbos on the engine to boost horsepower in higher altitudes. The HD 6B's had a track guage of 60". I looked in a few books I have, and didn't get any clear explanation on how AC made the machine so narrow. Maybe the final drive case and sprocket shafts are shorter. I'd measure both machines across the final drive case, from sprocket to sprocket. IN 1963 Allis Chalmers used the 6000 series diesel engine in the HD 6. The early engine had 344 c.i. and so did the 6000 series. The 6000 series had a different cylinder head and different pistons. This was done to help promote easier cold starting and better power. The early 344 engines had the injectors on the left side of the engine just above the injector pump, and they were mounted horizontally. The 6000 series engine has the injectors mounted in the top of the head, behind the muffler. The engines will bolt in either machine. Let me know exactly what you want to interchange and I'll go my best to help. E-mail me if you want. HAPPY DOZIN' Phil
