have 1946 d 4 dozer and the blade dont lift up and down it did it just quit it has pump on front and its still spinning need help trying to build pond

Did you check if pump has pressure IF IT does Check and see if valve is bypassing

Mark,
I had hyd problems on my D6 as well. Some suggestions:
1. look in your hydraulic tank while engine is running and see if the oil is flowing. If not, you have a pump or drive problem.
2. is the blade twisting as if one cylinder wants to lift and the other does not. You need new seals on the cylinder. 3. try inserting a pressure gage upline of the pump. if you have good pressure at the pump while actuating the valve, your control valves may be leaking.

I had to fix all of these problems. Drive, then pump, then cylinder, then valves. Mine was in pretty bad shape, but works great now. Good luck.
