Here's an open question . . . some guys in the IHC section suggested I buy a loader (skid steer) instead of using a loader on a tractor. So . . . are there any brands that you guys would consider better & more trouble free, any that you think have poor repair records? Also, one guy said you could get really nice ones (with some life left in them) for $10k or so. True??? Any suggestions. Thanks. John

Hey Grim, I used to work at a Bobcat dealership so I guess I'm partial to the Bobcats, the biggest thing we dealt with was hydraulic leaks and electrical problems, (elec. prob. on new ones older units dont have near as much) and all brands will have hyd. leaks they pack so much stuff in a confined area, metal tube lines that vibrate loose, o-rings blown out etc. As far as recommending one brand over another that would really be hard to do, but I would suggest that you stay with a well known brand that parts and service wont be hard to get, unless your a mechanic and dont mind working on it as well as adding several new cuss words the world has never heard before. $10K skid-steers are out there and you should be able to get a good one for that price, I just sold my 743 Bobcat in good shape for $4700 without a bucket but I did know the guy and have done alot of work for him in the past. Hhhhmmm all this typing and I havent answered one of your ????, oh well it was an open question LOL if you need anything else let me know.
