Ih crawler color

can anyone tell me when ih changed from red to yellow paint on their crawlers? did they change all the models at the same time? where can i get decals for a td 24 ?

they did change to yellow in the late 50's to be able to sell to goverment agency's yellow was the standerd color they chose, but you could still have them painted red from the factory.
as far as decals there are no factory decals left any where, I work at a IH dealership and have checked every place you could think of.
so for my 24 I generated them on my computer and took them to a print shop and had them made, look good as factory ones. you can still buy the IH name kit from a dealer(white or black)

Guy Fay told me several months back that sometime around 1957 IH started the practice of red crawlers for ag use with the option of yellow color for construction industry (just as Allis-Chalmers were orange for ag with optional yellow for construction). As to decals, all too often I have seen restored IH tractors (both ag & construction) that have the incorrect decaling. Some of these purveyors of decals don't take too much trouble, apparently, to determine the correct decals for the tractors in question; somewhat of a "one size fits all" mentality.
