Converting a cat to electric start

A while back I picked up some parts to convert my D2 5J from a rope start pony to electric start pony. At least that's what I hoped to do with them. I finally got around today to looking at it and seeing what is involved it the transformation. It appears feasible but I can see a few problems arising. It looks as if the starter and brackets will mount up with no problem and the belt pulley will align with the empty groove on the pony flywheel so at least the major parts fit.
The problems I see are 1) The existing throttle or governor control rod would have to be rerouted somehow as it would have to pass through the casting base in its present position. How was this accomplished on factory-equipped models?
2) The dash seems like it is about a ½ inch too close to the pony to allow for belt clearance and there may have to be some clearance for the end of the starter as well. This can probably be remedied. 3) The choke, throttle and switch for the pony would have to be relocated. I assume there was another bracket of some sort to accomplish that. Anyone have one to sell if so?

Anyone else done ever done this? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks
Tim
