Can someone tell me of a chatroom where I can hopefully ask some questions now today about the safety of where to place a three inch ball to tow a heavy gooseneck trailer, ie, behind the rear axle much farther that is normally seen. Many Thanks, Sonny

if you're gonna mount a gooseneck ball, then mount it at least an 1" to an 1 1/2" ahead of the axle. that way you can play with the load on the trailer to get the correct tounge weight.

I doubt your going to find one. Email me and I will awnser you questions best I can. I havent heard of a 3" ball. The preferable location of the ball is ahead of the rear axle. If you go behind the rear axle you get into bad geometry, where your truck is loaded heaveier than the actual load. Its ok as long as your truck will handle it, but the wieght increases the load on the truck dramaticly. Thats why goosenecks are prefered over tounge pull for heavy loads. You are kind of defeating your pourpose here.
