J.D. 350C Front Crossbar Worn

Just bought a 350C Dozer - 6 way blade to clear out cedar trees & make roads. Engine & tranny were rebuilt 2 yrs. ago, blasted, repainted with decals. Looks like new.
Presently rebuilding blade attachment area, pivot, new bushings on cylinders & brackets. Blade was ready to fall off.

Question: I understand the track rails are supposed to float on the front crossbar. There are no cracks but the crossbar is worn about 3/16" on the bottom side where it contacts the track rails & the bushing holes are egged pretty bad.

Anyone know the best way to repair this area without a new crossbar. I was thinking of welding a plate to the bottom of the crossbar to bring it back to the original thickness & bore holes for the bushings to drop through. The excessive play in this area has also caused the rear bar to egg also.

I fixed this problem on my 350B.

First, I built up the top of the track frame with weld (6013). Then I had new bushings made for the cross member at a local machine shop. Also I reamed the bushing holes round again.

Then I removed the rear crossbar and had a machine shop buils d it up with weld and then turn it down. The ends were sized slightly larger for the over sized holes in the track frames. Lastly, I rounded the holes in the rear track frame.

Everything was put back together with Grade 8 bolts.

200+ hours, no problems.

Billy Just done it to mine only yours sounds in a lot better shape than mine was. I checked with a lot of deere owners and loggers about why the front crossbar would wear and break. Found out it was because the rear bar was worn like yours also most people would weld the front bar and not fix the rear one. Deere wanted 1,100 bucks for a new rear bar. (that might be why) I took my track frams to a machine shop and had a new rear bar made and bushing's put in the frames. had them make new collars for the front cross bar and fix all the bolt holes in the track frames. total cost was less than the price off new rear cross bar. Tracks work like they should now it's a nice machine. if you want the specks on it call me

Had a 350 once. The previous owner had the same problem as you but welded the crosmember to the track frames. The welds always broke at the crossmember. If you think you need to put a spacer there I would weld it to the track frame only. Deere used to use a hard flanged washer in the crossmember. We could never keep those bolts from coming lose or breaking. I ended up taking 1 1/2 bar 3" long and drilling a 5/8" hole down the center and putting that on top for the flanged washer then using longer grade 8 bolts. With long longer bolts we had no more problems.
