I have a 1963 international T-340.
The engine runs rough and will stall unless I run it with the choke partially open, then it runs smooth.
any ideas on the cause, and fix.
also what type and number spark plug would this engine take?
thanks for any and all help.

Sounds like it's time to clean/rebuild your carbureator. I'm betting that you let it sit for a fairly long period of time between uses. The gas gets gummed up in the carb jet and results in a real lean mixture, which is why it'll run better with the choke on. Clean the carb, and start using a stabilizing additive to the gasoline ( like "Stabil" ). Hope this helps ya.

I have a T-340 sitting in the shed that I'd like to get back in shape. I'd be very interested in a copy of your manual if that is possible.

I don't know if my machine is worth fixing or not but I'm going to find out what I can about them. It does run but just barely right now. It seems to have a high time engine that likely needs rebuilding but I don't want to go to the trouble if there are other serious problems. I'm told the finals need attention and that the track pins are worn badly too.

Best, wes
