Looking for any info about M crawler such as ser. #location(s) and range of values. Motor is loose, had liners replaced about 25 hrs. ago. Needs P/B turned but tractor is complete. Hasn't run in several years.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Pete

Hi Pete:
I too have a Model M. You can find parts and help at Associeted Tractor in Stockton, CA. Their number is 800 735 1301 or 209 466 3003.
Thanks, Art

There is another number not very many people know about. It is a date I believe it is the year the tractor was assembeled. It is located directly to the rear of the transmission cover, and stamped into the nain housing. The sheet metal needs to be removed to see it. It is hard to price these old tractors. I bought three M,s last spring for 1500$ one of them being very origional, the other two parters. Before that I bought two for 1200$ which were parters also. I think 500 to 800 would be a good price. These are good reliable tractors if you keep them serviced. These were very poular in calif. years ago. If the M is set up for use with butaine you might want to stay away from it, parts are very hard to find.Good luck Stan

Stan,
Thanks for the information. I'm going to look at the machine next week. It is gas with crank start according to the owner.
The price guide is very helpful also.
Thanks again,
Pete

Pete, The serial # is located by the right side of the shift lever. I purchased a M recently and I've had a hard time finding parts. Hopefully you'll have better luck. Let me know if you find a good source for parts

Dan,
Thanks for the information. I haven't bought it yet but will look it over carefully. If I get it and find a parts source I'll let you know.
Thanks again,
Pete

one thing you might want to know about,is if these tractors are parked outside in the rainy season, water seeps in to the transmission through the shifter shaft. If trans oil is over full it has water. The last three I bought all had a lot of water. If the water gets to the stearing clutch side it will drain out, unless the bottom drain hole is plugged.
